When and how did travellers book in 2023? The baseline year set the tone: predominantly onsite, last-minute, and concentrated in a narrow morning window.
In 2023, 83% of all HOHO tickets were bought at the point of departure, stops, kiosks, or directly from sales staff. This established the baseline for an industry built around real-time, in-person purchase. API partners drove 14%, with direct online and box office accounting for the remainder.
The 24-hour pass already dominated at 53% of bookings, with 48-hour at 14% and 12-hour just 3%. Booking activity concentrated heavily into the late morning: hours 10 and 11 alone accounted for 38% of all daily bookings. Saturdays were the busiest day at 17.7%, and August the busiest month at 12.7%.
