When did travellers actually hop on in 2023? The baseline year shows same-day travel already the norm, with riders averaging two-plus buses per ticket.

From booking to boarding

In 2023, 65% of HOHO tickets were used the same day they were purchased, with the average lead time for advance bookings sitting at 4.22 days. Only 10% of tickets were booked more than a week ahead. Lead time varied by passenger type: adults averaged 4.4 days, children 4.7 days, and groups a much longer 10.9 days.

Once riders boarded, they made the most of their tickets. Time-based ticket holders averaged 2.14 buses across their validity window, with activity peaking between 11am and 3pm. Saturdays carried 16.9% of weekly scans, making weekend staffing critical from the baseline year.
