The solo renaissance

HOHO buses have long been a family staple, but 2025 saw a record-breaking shift toward independent explorers. Solo bookings now account for 42% of all transactions (up from 36% in 2024), and two-ticket bookings sit at 39%. Together, solo and duo travellers represent 81% of every seat sold.

Three-year trend data confirms the direction of travel: solo share has climbed from 35% (2023) to 36% (2024) to 42% (2025). Adults now dominate the passenger mix at 85% (up from 80%), while child tickets dropped to 8%. Larger parties remain a smaller but valuable segment, ripe for targeted family and group promotions.
