Who was hopping on in 2023? The baseline year shows solo travellers and couples already setting the tone for HOHO buses, with adults the dominant segment.
In 2023, the average HOHO booking was 2.11 tickets, with solo bookings already accounting for 35% of all transactions and two-ticket bookings at 43%. Together, solos and duos claimed 78% of every seat sold, the foundation for the solo growth story that would build through 2024 and 2025.
Adults dominated the passenger mix at 84.5%, with children at 8.4% and a further 7.1% in niche categories such as discounted, group, or local tickets where age couldn’t be determined. Larger parties (3+ tickets) made up 22% of bookings, a smaller but valuable segment.
