The onsite advantage deepens

HOHO remains overwhelmingly an onsite, same-day purchase. In 2025, 85% of all tickets were bought at the point of departure — at stops, kiosks, or directly from sales staff — up from 82% the year before. API sales dropped from 14% to 11%, while direct online edged up to 3%.

A standout shift in 2025: the 12-hour ticket caught up to the 48-hour pass for the first time. Three-year trend data shows 12hr passes climbing from 3.3% in 2023 to 9.1% in 2025, while 48hr settled at 11.8%. The 24hr pass remains dominant at 55%, but travellers are increasingly valuing shorter, sharper journeys.
