Purchase Patterns

Booking Behaviours.

When and how do travellers book their HOHO tickets? The data reveals a strong preference for last-minute, onsite purchases.

The onsite advantage

Despite the growth of online travel booking, the hop-on hop-off industry remains predominantly an onsite purchase. 82% of all HOHO tickets are bought at the point of departure—at stops, kiosks, or directly from sales staff.

This presents both opportunities and challenges for operators. High foot traffic converts well, but advanced booking remains an untapped market. With only 2% booking through direct online channels and 14% via API partners, there’s significant room to grow pre-arrival sales.
